Welcome to the epilogue of the Gabby's Store saga. The rant column this week describes the painstaking process to create the comic each week. Enjoy the behind-the-scenes tour!
- Come up with an idea.
- Sketch out (usually with a non-photo blue pencil) some basic scenes. Try out different camera angles, poses, props, expressions, and so forth.
- Ink the drawing (in my case with Pigma Micron pens and maybe a Sharpie).
- Scan the inked copy into the computer, at a resolution adequate for print.
- The scan goes straight into Photoshop for drawing cleanup and layer setup.
- Fine-tune the dialog and add it to the image via a specialty comic font.
- Spend a lot of time in Photoshop coloring, shading, and producing effects.
- Once the image is complete, save a screen resolution copy for the web site.
- Post
That's the short version. Perhaps I'll get more in-depth later. Cheers! |
